How much does it cost to hire a sitter from The Wedding Sitter?

Babysitting rates start at $50 per hour, plus a $75 booking fee. Prices vary depending on the little ones we’re looking after - because every family is unique! Get in touch for a personalised quote.

How many babysitters will I need for my booking?

In New Zealand, the standard child-to-adult ratios are 1:5 for under-twos and 1:10 for over-twos - but we like to keep things a little more personal, particularly with new faces in unfamiliar settings!

At The Wedding Sitter, we believe in giving kids the attention they deserve. Our ratios are:
👶 Under 2: 1 adult for each bubba
🎨 Ages 2-5: 1 adult for every 4 kiddos
🎉 Ages 6+: 1 adult for every 6 big kids

Smaller groups mean more fun, more care, and a stress-free experience for everyone!

Do I need to provide anything for my children?

We love it when kids bring their favourite toys and games, but don’t worry - we come prepared with plenty of fun too! From rock painting and bubbles to yoga, meditation, drawing, and block building, we’ve got endless ways to keep little ones entertained. No matter their interests, we’ll make sure they’re having a blast! 🎨🧩✨

Are there any extra costs?

For bookings outside of Wanaka, we kindly ask that you cover the babysitter’s travel costs. This is calculated at the government travel allowance rate of $1.17 per km. Thank you for helping us get to you!
